I Promise

King James opens “I Promise” School in Ohio Love him or hate him, se la tienes que dar a este gran ser humano. If you laugh at his memes or simply admire him for the basketball player he is, I assure you that the latest thing he did will make you love him. Lebron se unió al equipo de los Lakers, esto causó mixed feelings entre los expectadores de la NBA. No estamos aquí para hablar de la NBA cause I just simply don’t follow it fully, but sí quiero hablar de lo que este hombre a hecho por los niños y futura generación de nuestro país.

El famoso baloncelista, Lebron James abre una escuela en su hometown de Akron, Ohio. This school is called the “I Promise” y le abre sus puertas a 240 at-risk third- and fourth-graders. Like, who does that? This is amazing if you asked me. Según James, los estudiantes recibirán un sinnúmero de perks por star en esta escuela, pero los más sobre salientes son: • Free tuition • Free uniforms • Free breakfast, lunch and snacks • Free transportation within 2 miles • A free bicycle and helmet • Access to a food pantry for their family • Guaranteed tuition for all graduates to the University of Akron 

CNN informa que “Although the school is currently open only to third- and fourth-grade students, classes will expand from first to eighth grade by 2022.” (CNN, 2018). Podrán decir lo que quieran de el como atleta, pero como ser humano este hombre se ganó el cielo. In the current hostile environment that we are living in the states y como la actúal administración le dicen a los atletas to “stick to sports and not to politics”, esto es un direct screw you a todos los que se enfocan en hacer este país peor by promoting racism, hate, xenophobia and just sadness overall. Thank you James for focusing on the youth and bettering Akron, Ohio! 

James dijo, “For kids in general, all they want to know is that someone cares. And when they walk through that door I hope they know that someone cares.”
